Jamie Mackinlay, host and founder of Just Get A Real Job
​
Jamie is a script editor and podcaster originally from Glenrothes, Fife. He has been based in Edinburgh for over 7 years after moving there to study Film and Theatre at Queen Margaret University.
Jamie obtained an MA in Screenwriting at Screen Academy Scotland, graduating in 2020. He then went on to work on a number of TV and Film productions as a runner and COVID assistant.
In 2021 Jamie landed a placement at STV Studios as a trainee script editor supported by BECTU Vision. After an enjoyable and successful six months, Jamie joined the STV Drama team as a full-time assistant script editor. Jamie was also selected to be part of the Network TV talent scheme in 2021 and is a very active member of his local creative scene.

Launching Just Get A Real Job has been a life-changing experience for Jamie and it is a privilege getting to talk with and showcase so many talented creatives from across the world. Not only has Jamie made lasting friendships but he has also learned so much from creating Just Get A Real Job.
As well as growing the Just Get A Real Job audience, Jamie has also been a guest on several other podcasts and YouTube channels, including Choose Film, Joe Talks Pod, Pure Arts, Talkabout, and Creative Graduate.

Elliot Mitchell, editor

Elliot is a sound editor based in Glenrothes, Fife. He studied for his BSc in Audio Systems Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University and has been working as a sound recordist and mixer. Elliot kickstarted Just Get A Real Job with Jamie in November 2020.
Elliot is currently a mathematics tutor, but when he's not helping students he is usually editing episodes of Just Get A Real Job. Whether recording on remote locations or helping with live episodes, Elliot has made sure that each and every episode has been delivered to a high standard - even beating internet glitches or rising to combat the challenges of Jamie recording his intros and outros outdoors.
Elliot has found editing these episodes immensely engaging and valuable, especially as someone seeking a career in the creative arts. He has learned a lot through editing Just Get A Real Job and hopes to continue to do so for many episodes to come!
